Google is testing an AI product called Genesis that can generate news stories by taking in information.

The tool has been pitched to news organizations like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and News Corp.

Google sees it as a personal assistant for journalists, automating tasks and aiding the publishing industry with responsible technology.

However, some executives find the idea unsettling, and concerns arise about the accuracy and artfulness of the generated news content.

News organizations are exploring the use of AI in newsrooms, but the prospect of AI-generated articles has led to anxiety among journalists.

ChatGPT Plus receives custom instructions

OpenAI's ChatGPT Plus now offers custom instructions, allowing users to store information about how they want the AI chatbot to respond and behave.

This feature saves time by retaining user preferences across different chat sessions.

Potential use cases include teachers crafting lesson plans or developers using specific programming languages.

Users can access the feature on the web or the ChatGPT iOS app and provide personalized instructions to guide the AI's responses.

OpenAI's recent updates come amid growing opposition and complaints about the quality of ChatGPT's responses since its launch.

Microsoft introduces Bing Chat Enterprise

Microsoft has introduced Bing Chat Enterprise, an AI-powered chatbot for the enterprise.

This version includes data privacy and governance controls, ensuring chat data is not saved, Microsoft cannot access customer business data, and customer data doesn't train the AI models.

The enterprise version aims to address concerns about protecting confidential data.

Bing Chat Enterprise offers similar functionalities to Bing Chat, answering queries with text, graphs, charts, and images.

A new feature called Visual Search will enable responses to questions about uploaded images and web searches for related content.

The service is free for Microsoft 365 subscribers and will be available as a standalone offering for $5 per user per month.

The AI wave

The AI wave is reshaping the world with breakthrough advancements and widespread applications.

AI is transforming industries like entertainment, education, healthcare, finance, and retail.

Google's Bard AI chatbot and Google's medical AI chatbot at Mayo Clinic are making significant strides. Elon Musk's xAI venture and Shopify's AI assistant for merchants highlight the growing influence of AI.

Challenges include ethical considerations and potential job displacement, but opportunities abound in improved decision-making, automation, and personalized experiences.

The future of AI looks promising with emerging trends in machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing.

However, the shortage of AI experts remains a significant challenge in the AI market. Responsible development and utilization of AI are essential for a better future.

Meta decides to cancel Quest Pro and halts Quest Pro 2 development

Meta, the tech giant, has canceled the development of its high-end VR/AR headset, the Meta Quest Pro, and the Quest Pro 2.

The company informed its suppliers that it won't need any new components for the Quest Pro.

The Quest Pro received criticism for its design, heavyweight, and high price.

Meta is now focusing on launching the Meta Quest 3, offering a superior XR experience with higher resolution and advanced features.

Additionally, Meta's AR glasses, known as Artemis, will feature older display technology and a reduced field of view.

The company's future in the high-end VR/AR market remains uncertain.

YouTube Premium raises the monthly price to $14

Google has quietly increased the price of YouTube Premium from $12 to $14 per month without any official announcement.

The annual subscription price has also risen from $120 to $140.

Additionally, the price of YouTube Music Premium has been increased from $10 to $11 per month, matching similar increases by Apple and Amazon.

YouTube Premium offers ad-free viewing, offline viewing, background playback, and higher-quality streaming.

Last year, Google raised the family Premium plan to $23 per month.

The company has also been cracking down on ad-blockers, encouraging users to subscribe to YouTube Premium to support creators.

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Game Pass Core to replace Xbox Live Gold

Microsoft is replacing its Xbox Live Gold subscription with a new offering called Xbox Game Pass Core, launching on September 14th.

Existing Xbox Live Gold members will be transferred to Game Pass Core at the same rate of $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year.

The new subscription includes multiplayer support, deals, discounts, and access to a limited catalog of over 25 games.

Games with Gold, the perk that offers free monthly games, will be discontinued, and the new Game Pass Core titles will replace it.

However, Game Pass Core is different from the full Xbox Game Pass, which includes online multiplayer, requiring Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for those benefits.

This move follows Microsoft's rebranding of Xbox Live to Xbox Network in 2021 and recent price increases for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass for Console.
